Ruby Eaches, D.A.A.D.O.M., is Practice Manager at Surf City Dental. With over 30 years in dentistry, Ruby strives to change the “dental experience” by leading her team in providing the best customer service to our patients. Since 2011, she has brought professional guidance and compassion to Surf City Dental. Among her professional accomplishments, Ruby received a national award from the American Association of Dental Office Managers, recognized as the Green Leader of 2017. Ruby is the proud mom to her adult son, John, and don’t forget to ask her about her potbellied pig Willow.
Since 2017, Kelsey Smith has held the critical role of the scheduling and treatment coordinator at Surf City Dental. Her soft-spoken manner and kind smile can be felt over the phone. Kelsey is the Tetris master of scheduling and a magician with financing and payment options. She’s married to Justin and is a proud mom to her son, Jaxon, and two daughters. Their two pups complete this sweet family!
Brooke Englebright, D.A is a dental assistant, working toward her goal as a certified dental assistant (CDA). While Brooke assists our dentists in all clinical needs, it’s her ability to help patients feel at ease that makes her shine. In her free time, Brooke enjoys fishing and spending time with her longtime boyfriend, Justin.
January Rhinehart, RDH completed her dental hygiene degree in 2000 from York Technical College in Rock Hill, SC. A native of Charlotte, she and her husband have lived all over the country for the past 19 years. They are thrilled to be forever settled in Surf City with their two teenage sons. In her free time, you can find January fishing or watching football.
Chandler Newbold, R.D.H graduated from Coastal Carolina Community College, Dental Hygiene Program. Chandler was born and raised, right down the road, in Richlands N.C. Chandler’s favorite part of her job is providing patients the experience of good dental care and the feeling of a great smile. On her free time, she enjoys fishing and spending time outdoors with her husband, Daniel.
Victor Zapata is from Fullerton, CA. he joined the U.S. Navy in 2014 as a Corpsman and furthered his training to become dental tech certified. Victor was stationed in Camp Lejeune and served until 2019. In 2021, he graduated from U.N.C.W. with a B.S. in Biology, aspiring to become a dentist. Victor enjoys working out, going to the beach, and playing in club water polo in his free time. He also loves spending time with his husky, Anna!
Shannon Watkins, R.D.H. has been an integral part of Surf City Dental since 2010. Shannon brings 27 years of experience, along with genuine compassion. When Shannon is not with her work family, she calls Castle Hayne home. Along with her husband, Patrick, they share four children and a pup named Chipper.
Courtney Allen, C.D.A. F.A.A.D.O.M. is our “Insurance Guru.” Courtney joined Surf City Dental in 2016, but it feels like she’s been with us from the start. Courtney goes above and beyond to assist our patients in navigating their dental benefits, giving them peace of mind that no insurance question will go unanswered. Outside of the office, Courtney and her beautiful family of 4 enjoy traveling and making memories!
Amanda Ward, C.D.A and Clinical Coordinator, is a graduate from Miller Motte College. She began her career with Surf City Dental in 2012. Amanda is the backbone of all clinical care, keeping our schedule running smoothly and providing chair-side assistance when needed. The proud parent of two pups, Amanda spends much of her leisure time with friends and family.
Kyndal Shortt is a Winston-Salem, NC native. She joined the Surf City Dental team in fall 2019. Kyndal has one fur baby named Greyson and loves spending free time with family and friends. At SCD, Kyndal handles greeting and patient relations. Her favorite thing about Surf City Dental is the positive work atmosphere.
Kaleigh Spoon, D.A. graduated from Cape Fear Community College dental assistant program in 2020 and is working towards her CDA. Born and raised in Wilmington, Kaleigh played lacrosse for the Laney Buccaneers. She married her high school sweetheart Hunter, and together they raise two labs Waylon and June-Bug. Kaleigh loves the team and environment at Surf City Dental and says that her favorite part of her job is helping patients get out of pain.
